What is Biothrax ?
BioThrax is an FDA-approved vaccine for active immunization against anthrax, which is caused by Bacillus anthracis. Used in adults and adolescents, BioThrax is indicated for both pre-exposure prophylaxis and post-exposure therapeutic use alongside recommended antibiotic treatments. The vaccine stimulates the immune system to produce antibodies that target the protective antigen of the bacterium, providing protective immunity against the disease.

- This vaccine is not a treatment for an anthrax infection. You will need additional medicine if you have already been infected.
- Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding, or if you have bleeding problems, a weak immune system, or a history of anthrax infection. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to rubber, latex, aluminum, benzethonium chloride, or formaldehyde.
- It is not safe to take this medicine during pregnancy. It could harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor right away if you become pregnant.
