What is Brexafemme ?

Brexafemme (ibrexafungerp) is an antifungal medication approved by the FDA for the treatment of vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC), commonly known as a yeast infection. It operates by inhibiting the enzyme (1,3)-β-D-glucan synthase, crucial for fungal cell wall synthesis, offering a novel mechanism compared to traditional azole antifungals. This oral therapy provides a brief course treatment option, typically involving a dosage regimen of two doses taken 12 hours apart.
