What is Exservan ?
Exservan (riluzole) is an orally administered film formulation indicated for the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). This medication works primarily by modulating glutamate signaling, which may help reduce the degeneration of motor neurons. Exservan dissolves on top of the tongue and is taken twice daily, facilitating administration for patients who may have difficulty swallowing.
- Cough, trouble breathing
- Dark urine or pale stools, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, stomach pain, yellow skin or eyes
- Fever, chills, cough, sore throat, body aches
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.
- This medicine lowers the number of white blood cells. This weakens your immune system, so you may get infections more easily. Wash your hands often. Avoid people who are sick.
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have liver disease or lung or breathing problems. Tell your doctor if you have Japanese ancestry.
