What is Phenylephrine Hcl (Pressors) ?
Phenylephrine HCl is a sympathomimetic amine that acts predominantly as a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist, primarily used to increase blood pressure in patients with acute hypotension. Commonly administered intravenously, it increases vascular resistance and, consequently, elevates systolic and diastolic pressures without significantly affecting heart rate. It is also utilized in other forms such as oral and nasal for its vasoconstrictive properties to relieve nasal congestion.
