Bosulif is a prescription medication used as a treatment for adults who have a certain type of leukemia called Philadelphia chromosome-positive chronic myelogenous leukemia (Ph+ CML). It comes in capsule form and is used when other treatment options have failed. Bosulif works by interfering with the growth of cancer cells in the body. Do not use Bosulif if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Common side effects include headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach pain.

  • Headache
  • Mild diarrhea
  • Fever, chills, cough, runny or stuffy nose, sore throat, body aches
  • Change in how much or how often you urinate
  • Rapid weight gain, swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet
  • Dark urine or pale stools, loss of appetite, yellow skin or eyes
  • Severe diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain
  • Trouble breathing, chest pain
  • Unusual bleeding, bruising, or weakness
  • Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
  • Blistering, peeling, red skin rash
  • Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Never share your medicine with anyone.
  • This medicine could cause infertility. Talk with your doctor before using this medicine if you plan to have children.
  • Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.
  • Oral routeIt is not safe to take this medicine during pregnancy. It could harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor right away if you become pregnant. If you are a woman who can get pregnant, your doctor may do tests to make sure you are not pregnant. Use an effective birth control to keep from getting pregnant during treatment with this medicine and for at least 2 weeks after your last dose.
  • Do not breastfeed during treatment and for at least 2 weeks after the last dose.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, liver disease, fluid retention, heart disease, high blood pressure, or history of heart failure or diabetes.
  • This medicine may cause the following problems: Liver problemsFluid retention (too much water in your body)Kidney problemsHeart problems, including heart failure
  • Oral routeMedicines used to treat cancer are very strong and can have many side effects. Before receiving this medicine, make sure you understand all the risks and benefits. It is important for you to work closely with your doctor during your treatment.
  • This medicine may make you bleed, bruise, or get infections more easily. Take precautions to prevent illness and injury. Wash your hands often.
