What is Fosamprenavir Calcium ?
Fosamprenavir Calcium is a prodrug form of amprenavir, an antiretroviral medication used in the treatment of HIV infection. It functions as a protease inhibitor, which interferes with the viral replication process by inhibiting the activity of the enzyme protease, essential for the maturation of infectious virus particles. Once administered, fosamprenavir is converted to amprenavir in the body, offering improved pharmacokinetic properties and facilitating better patient compliance through reduced dosing frequency.
