What is Nuzyra?
Nuzyra (omadacycline) is a modern aminomethylcycline antibiotic formulated to combat a range of severe bacterial infections including community-acquired bacterial pneumonia and acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections. It operates by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, providing effective treatment against a wide spectrum of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including multi-drug resistant strains. - Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Blurred vision or other change in vision
- Changes in the amount or frequency of urination, bloody or cloudy urine, lower back or side pain
Warnings
- It is not safe to take this medicine during pregnancy. It could harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor right away if you become pregnant.
- Do not breastfeed during treatment with this medicine and for 4 days after the last dose.
- Tell your doctor if you have diarrhea or eye or vision problems.
- This medicine may cause the following problems:Slow bone growth or permanent change in tooth color (in children 8 years of age and younger)Increased pressure inside the head
- This medicine can cause diarrhea. Call your doctor if the diarrhea becomes severe, does not stop, or is bloody. Do not take any medicine to stop diarrhea until you have talked to your doctor. Diarrhea can occur 2 months or more after you stop taking this medicine.
