What is Pemetrexed?
Pemetrexed is an antifolate chemotherapy agent used primarily in the treatment of malignant pleural mesothelioma and non-small cell lung cancer. It works by inhibiting key enzymes in the folate pathway, thereby disrupting DNA and RNA synthesis and slowing the growth of cancer cells. Administered intravenously, pemetrexed is often combined with other chemotherapy agents and requires pre-treatment with vitamin B12 and folic acid to mitigate side effects.Side Effects
