What is Megestrol Acetate ?
Megestrol acetate has been approved by the US FDA for treating certain cancers of the breast or uterus. Doctors have also used megestrol acetate to treat prostate and ovarian cancer. This drug has also been used to stimulate appetite and increase body weight in people with AIDS or cancer.

- Do not breastfeed. You can spread HIV or AIDS to your baby through your breast milk.
- Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding, or if you have kidney disease, liver disease, adrenal gland problems (including Cushing syndrome), cancer, diabetes, an infection, mental problems, stomach or bowel problems, or a history of blood clots.
