What is Dovato?
Dovato is a fixed-dose combination antiretroviral medication used for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults. It contains two active ingredients, dolutegravir and lamivudine, which work by inhibiting viral replication and reducing the amount of virus in the body. Dovato is recommended for patients with no known resistance to its components and allows for a simplified treatment regimen with just one tablet daily.Side Effects
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Blistering, peeling, red skin rash
- Dark urine or pale stools, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, stomach pain, yellow skin or eyes
Warnings
- Using this medicine while you are pregnant can harm your unborn baby. If you are a woman who can get pregnant, your doctor may do tests to make sure you are not pregnant before starting treatment. Do not use this medicine during the first part of your pregnancy. Use an effective form of birth control to keep from getting pregnant. Tell your doctor right away if you think you have become pregnant.
- Do not breastfeed. You can spread HIV or AIDS to your baby through your breast milk.
- Tell your doctor if you have kidney disease or liver disease (including hepatitis B or C).
- This medicine may cause the following problems:Liver problemsLactic acidosis (too much acid in the blood)
- Your immune system may get stronger when you start using HIV medicines. This could cause a hidden infection in your body to become active. Tell your doctor right away if you notice any changes in your health.
