How semaglutide works

Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist. Taken once a week, it works with your body's own appetite and blood-sugar signals.

Feel full sooner

It slows how quickly food leaves your stomach, so meals keep you satisfied longer and portions naturally shrink.

Quiet the cravings

It acts on appetite centers in the brain, turning down hunger and the constant pull toward snacking.

Steadier blood sugar

It helps your body release insulin when blood sugar rises, which supports more stable energy through the day.

In the 68-week STEP 1 trial of FDA-approved semaglutide 2.4 mg (Wegovy), adults lost an average of about 15% of their body weight alongside diet and exercise. Individual results vary, and compounded semaglutide has not been studied in those trials. Semaglutide works best alongside a reduced-calorie diet and regular activity.

Important safety information

Boxed warning: Semaglutide caused thyroid C-cell tumors in rodent studies. It is not known whether it causes thyroid tumors, including medullary thyroid carcinoma, in people. Do not use semaglutide if you or any of your family have had medullary thyroid carcinoma or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2.

Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain and decreased appetite, most often while your dose is being increased. Serious risks include pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, low blood sugar (especially with insulin or sulfonylureas), kidney injury from dehydration, and severe allergic reactions. Stop and seek care right away for severe stomach pain, a lump in your neck, trouble swallowing or breathing, or signs of an allergic reaction.

Do not use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning pregnancy, or under 18. Tell your provider about every medication and condition during your visit. This is not a complete list of risks; your provider and the pharmacy will give you full medication information.

Frequently asked questions

What is compounded semaglutide?
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist that mimics a gut hormone to reduce appetite, slow stomach emptying and help control blood sugar. Compounded semaglutide is prepared for you by a licensed U.S. compounding pharmacy from a prescription written by your provider. It is not an FDA-approved product and is not the same as any brand-name medication.
How does the online visit work?
After checkout you complete a confidential medical questionnaire. A licensed provider in your state reviews it, follows up if they need more information, and decides whether semaglutide is appropriate for you. Some states require a brief video or live-chat visit. If you are not approved, you are not charged for medication.
What dose will I start on?
Most people start at 0.25 mg once a week for four weeks and step up from there as tolerated. Your provider sets your starting dose and your step-up schedule.
Does the price go up when my dose increases?
No. We do not charge by strength. Every dose costs the same, so when your provider steps you up your plan price stays exactly where it started. The only thing that changes your price is the plan length you choose.
What does the price include?
One price covers the provider visit, your medication at any prescribed dose for the plan length you choose, injection supplies and cold-packed shipping. There are no visit fees, membership fees, dose upcharges or shipping charges added at checkout.
Do I need insurance?
No. This is a cash-pay program and we do not bill insurance. You can pay with a debit or credit card, and many HSA and FSA cards are accepted.
How do I take semaglutide?
Semaglutide is injected once a week under the skin of the stomach, thigh or upper arm using a small insulin-style syringe. Your shipment includes a dosing guide and your care team can walk you through your first injection by message.
What are the side effects?
The most common side effects are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation and stomach pain, most often while your dose is being increased. Less common but serious risks include pancreatitis, gallbladder problems, low blood sugar (especially with other diabetes medicines) and kidney problems from dehydration. Semaglutide carries a boxed warning for thyroid C-cell tumors seen in rodent studies; do not use it if you or a family member has had medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2.
Who should not take semaglutide?
Do not take semaglutide if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning pregnancy, have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2, have had pancreatitis, or are under 18. Tell your provider about every medication and condition during your visit.
How do refills and cancellation work?
Your plan does not renew automatically. Before each refill your care team checks in with you, and nothing ships or is charged until you confirm. You can pause or cancel from your account at any time with no fees. Federal and state law do not allow medication to be returned once shipped, so all medication sales are final.
Where is this available?
We currently serve 49 states (all except Alaska). Some states have additional visit requirements, which are handled during intake.
