What is Leflunomide ?
Leflunomide is a disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD) primarily used to manage the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis. It works by inhibiting the enzyme dihydroorotate dehydrogenase, which is crucial in the synthesis of pyrimidine nucleotides and thus reduces inflammation and slows the progression of the disease. Leflunomide also has immunomodulatory properties that help in reducing joint damage and improving physical function.
