Arixtra is a prescription medication used to treat patients with deep vein thrombosis (DVT). A condition that causes blood to clot in the legs or lungs. This medication is used together with another anticoagulant to stop the blood clotting substance in the in the blood. This reduces the risk of heart attack, stroke, or breathing problems.

  • Mild bleeding, itching, or rash where the shot was given
  • Tiny red dots on the skin, especially on the lower legs
  • Change in how much or how often you urinate
  • Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
  • Loss of bowel or bladder control
  • Unexplained nosebleeds
  • Numbness or tingling in your legs, back pain
  • Unusual bleeding, bruising, or weakness
  • Blood in your urine or stools
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have kidney disease, liver disease, any bleeding problems, high blood pressure, diabetic retinopathy, a stomach ulcer, or a history of stroke or heart infection.
