What is Arava ?

Leflunomide is an immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory medication primarily used in the management of rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis. It functions by inhibiting the dihydroorotate dehydrogenase enzyme, leading to a reduction in pyrimidine synthesis and consequently suppressing the proliferation of activated lymphocytes. This helps to alleviate symptoms such as joint pain and swelling while slowing disease progression.
