What is Fetroja ?
Fetroja (cefiderocol) is a novel siderophore cephalosporin antibiotic, specifically designed for the treatment of severe infections caused by multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria. It uniquely binds to iron and then utilizes the bacteria’s own iron transport mechanisms to gain entry into bacterial cells, overcoming common resistance mechanisms. Fetroja is particularly effective in treating complicated urinary tract infections, hospital-acquired pneumonia, and ventilator-associated pneumonia.
