What is Hylenex ?
Hylenex, generic name hyaluronidase, is an enzyme that helps increase the absorption rate of other injected drugs by temporarily breaking down hyaluronic acid, a natural substance in the body that can impede the dispersion of injectable solutions. It is commonly used to enhance the delivery of other medications or fluids, and to improve resorption of radiopaque agents in subcutaneous urography. Hylenex is also utilized in the treatment of extravasations, which occur when injected medications inadvertently leak into surrounding tissues.
