What is Hylenex?
Hylenex, generic name hyaluronidase, is an enzyme that helps increase the absorption rate of other injected drugs by temporarily breaking down hyaluronic acid, a natural substance in the body that can impede the dispersion of injectable solutions. It is commonly used to enhance the delivery of other medications or fluids, and to improve resorption of radiopaque agents in subcutaneous urography. Hylenex is also utilized in the treatment of extravasations, which occur when injected medications inadvertently leak into surrounding tissues.Side Effects
- Rapid weight gain, swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing

- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- This medicine is made from donated human blood. All donated blood is tested for certain viruses. Although your risk for getting a virus from the medicine is very low, talk with your doctor if you have concerns.
