Mydriacyl 15ML of 1%
What is Mydriacyl?
Tropicamide is an antimuscarinic ophthalmic solution primarily used to induce mydriasis (dilation of the pupil) and cycloplegia (paralysis of the ciliary muscle) for diagnostic procedures in the eye. By inhibiting the muscarinic receptors in the eye, it temporarily prevents the eye from focusing, facilitating comprehensive examinations of the retina and other internal structures. It is typically administered in controlled clinical settings due to its short duration of action and well-tolerated safety profile.Side Effects
- Temporary stinging/burning of the eye
- Increased light sensitivity
- Dry mouth
Warnings
- Use caution in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma, as it may increase intraocular pressure
- Avoid driving or operating machinery if vision is affected
- Not recommended for use in infants and small children unless directed by a healthcare professional
- Notify your healthcare provider if experiencing severe eye pain or persistent vision changes
- Remove contact lenses before use and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting
