What is Akynzeo (To-Be-Diluted) ?
Akynzeo To-Be-Diluted is a combination medication containing netupitant and palonosetron, used to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy. It is administered as an intravenous infusion and works by blocking specific neurotransmitter receptors in the brain and gut responsible for triggering nausea and vomiting. Akynzeo provides sustained efficacy for both acute and delayed phases of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV).
- Constipation, stomach upset
- Headache
- Pain, itching, burning, swelling, or a lump under your skin where the needle is placed
- Tiredness or weakness
- Redness of the skin
- Trouble breathing
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Anxiety, restlessness, fast heartbeat, fever, sweating, muscle spasms, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, seeing or hearing things that are not there
- This medicine may cause a serious drug reaction called serotonin syndrome (more likely if used together with certain other medicines).
- Your doctor will check your progress and the effects of this medicine at regular visits. Keep all appointments.
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have kidney disease or liver disease.
