What is Amantadine Hcl ?

Amantadine HCl is an antiviral medication that is primarily used to prevent or treat infections caused by the influenza A virus. It also has dopaminergic properties and is used to treat Parkinson's disease and Parkinson-like symptoms, often resulting from encephalitis, head trauma, or side effects of certain psychiatric drugs.

  • Do not stop using this medicine suddenly. Your doctor will need to slowly decrease your dose before you stop it completely.
  • Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or if they get worse.
  • Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.
  • Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Never share your medicine with anyone.
