What is Amikacin Sulfate ?
Amikacin sulfate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic used for the treatment of serious bacterial infections caused by susceptible strains of Gram-negative bacteria, such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, and Klebsiella species. It functions by binding to bacterial ribosomes, disrupting protein synthesis and ultimately causing bacterial cell death. Due to its potent nature, amikacin is often reserved for multidrug-resistant infections where other antibiotics are ineffective.
