Agrylin is a prescription drug used to treat patients diagnosed with a blood disorder known as thrombocythemia. It causes the bone marrow to make too many platelets to produce bleeding problems and blood clots. Agrylin works to minimize the number of platelets formed in the bloodstream by preventing their production.
- Diarrhea, gas, nausea, stomach pain or upset
- Cough, runny nose, sore throat
- Headache
- Fast, pounding, or uneven heartbeat
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Chest pain, coughing up blood
- Fainting, dizziness, or lightheadedness
- Unusual bleeding, bruising, or weakness
- Trouble breathing
- Rapid weight gain, swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet
- Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.
- Do not stop using this medicine suddenly. Your doctor will need to slowly decrease your dose before you stop it completely. The platelet levels in your blood will increase when you stop using this medicine.

- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, or if you have kidney disease, liver disease, bleeding problems, or lung problems. Tell your doctor if you have any type of heart disease or condition, especially heart rhythm problems.
