This formulation is typically employed to manage the symptoms of tension headaches, employing butalbital, a barbiturate, to relax muscles and reduce anxiety, acetaminophen for pain relief, caffeine to enhance the effects of acetaminophen, and codeine, an opioid, to further alleviate moderate to severe pain. As with any opioid-containing product, caution is advised due to risks of dependence, addiction, and other potential side effects.
