What is Cathflo Activase ?
Cathflo Activase (alteplase) is a thrombolytic agent specifically used to restore function to central venous access devices that have become occluded due to a blood clot. It works by enzymatically dissolving the clot, thereby re-establishing the flow of medicine, fluids, and nutritional products. Administered as an intravenous infusion, Cathflo Activase is generally reserved for catheters that are non-functional due to thrombotic occlusion.
