What is Pimecrolimus ?

Pimecrolimus is an immunomodulating agent derived from ascomycin, specifically formulated for topical application. It functions by inhibiting T-cell activation and cytokine release, thus effectively managing inflammatory and immune responses associated with conditions like atopic dermatitis. It is commonly marketed under the brand name Elidel and is used to treat mild to moderate forms of the disease in patients who have not responded adequately to other topical therapies.
