What is Kerendia?
Kerendia (finerenone) is a non-steroidal, selective mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist used primarily for the treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) associated with type 2 diabetes. By blocking the harmful effects of aldosterone, Kerendia helps reduce inflammation and fibrosis in the kidneys, potentially slowing the progression of kidney damage and reducing the risk of cardiovascular events.Side Effects
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Confusion, weakness, and muscle twitching
- Numbness or tingling in your hands, feet, or lips, uneven heartbeat, trouble breathing
Warnings
- Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, or if you have liver disease.
- Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Never share your medicine with anyone.
- Do not breastfeed during treatment with this medicine and for at least 1 day after the last dose.
