What is Piqray (250 Mg Daily Dose)?
Piqray (alpelisib) 250 mg is a prescription medication approved for use in combination with fulvestrant for the treatment of postmenopausal women, and men, with hormone receptor-positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative, PIK3CA-mutated, advanced or metastatic breast cancer. This medication works by inhibiting the PI3K pathway, which is involved in cell growth and division. This targeted therapy is used in patients whose disease has progressed after treatment with hormone therapy.Side Effects

- Rash and other skin reactions
- Nausea and diarrhea
Warnings
- Hyperglycemia: Patients should be monitored for the development of high blood sugar levels, and it may be necessary to start or adjust anti-diabetic medications.
- Severe skin reactions: Patients should be monitored for severe rash or dermatologic reactions which may necessitate discontinuation of treatment.
- Anaphylaxis and hypersensitivity reactions: Immediate medical attention required if signs and symptoms of severe allergic reactions occur.
- Pneumonitis: Monitor for symptoms indicating lung problems, such as cough or difficulty breathing, which might require stopping treatment.
- Embryo-fetal toxicity: Can cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman, use of effective contraception is recommended during treatment and for a period after the final dose.
