What is Regadenoson?
Regadenoson is a pharmacologic stress agent primarily used in myocardial perfusion imaging. It selectively activates the A2A adenosine receptor, inducing coronary vasodilation that enhances blood flow in the heart. This agent is utilized during cardiac stress tests to assess coronary artery disease in patients unable to undergo traditional exercise-based testing.Side Effects
- Lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Chest pain that may spread to your arms, jaw, back, or neck, trouble breathing, nausea, unusual sweating
Warnings
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), heart or blood vessel disease, heart valve disease, seizures, or unstable angina.

- Fast, slow, or uneven heartbeat
