Rydapt (midostaurin) is a kinase inhibitor approved for the treatment of adult patients with newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia (AML) that is FLT3 mutation-positive, as detected by an FDA-approved test. Additionally, Rydapt is used for the treatment of adults with aggressive systemic mastocytosis, systemic mastocytosis with associated hematological neoplasm, or mast cell leukemia. This medication works by inhibiting multiple receptor tyrosine kinases thought to play roles in both neoplastic and non-neoplastic cells in the pathogenesis of these diseases.

  • Do not breastfeed during treatment and for 4 months after your last dose.
  • This medicine may make you bleed, bruise, or get infections more easily. Take precautions to prevent illness and injury. Wash your hands often.
  • Oral routeCancer medicine can cause nausea or vomiting, sometimes even after you receive medicine to prevent these effects. Ask your doctor or nurse about other ways to control any nausea or vomiting that might happen.
  • Oral routeThis medicine could cause infertility. Talk with your doctor before using this medicine if you plan to have children.
  • This medicine may cause lung or breathing problems (including interstitial lung disease, pneumonitis).
  • Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.
