What is Vitamin D2 ?

Vitamin D2, also known as ergocalciferol, is a form of vitamin D synthesized by plants and yeast from ergosterol upon exposure to ultraviolet light. It is commonly used in dietary supplements and fortified foods to aid in the absorption of calcium and phosphorus, promoting bone health and supporting immune, brain, and nervous system functions. Unlike Vitamin D3, which is produced endogenously in human skin, Vitamin D2 is obtained solely through dietary sources or supplements.
