What is Akynzeo?
Akynzeo is a prescription medication used in the prevention of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV). It combines two active ingredients, netupitant and palonosetron, which work together to block nausea signals in the brain, providing extended protection from both immediate and delayed phases of CINV. Akynzeo is taken orally as a single capsule before the start of chemotherapy treatment.Side Effects
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Anxiety, restlessness, fast heartbeat, fever, sweating, muscle spasms, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, seeing or hearing things that are not there
- Trouble breathing
Warnings
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have kidney disease or liver disease.
- This medicine may cause a serious drug reaction called serotonin syndrome (more likely if used together with certain other medicines).
- Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Never share your medicine with anyone.
- Your doctor will check your progress and the effects of this medicine at regular visits. Keep all appointments.
