What is Fluphenazine Decanoate?
Fluphenazine Decanoate is a long-acting phenothiazine antipsychotic used for the management of schizophrenia and other disorders characterized by severe psychosis. Administered as an intramuscular injection, it works by altering the actions of chemicals in the brain to reduce symptoms such as hallucinations and delusions. - Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Blurred vision or headache.
Warnings
- Make sure your doctor knows if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have liver disease, kidney disease or pheochromocytoma (tumor of the adrenal gland). Tell your doctor if you have a history of seizures.
- This medicine may make you dizzy or drowsy. Avoid driving, using machines, or doing anything else that could be dangerous if you are not alert.
- Make sure your doctor knows if you are exposed to extreme heat or insecticides.
- Make sure any doctor who treats you knows that you are using this medicine. This medicine may affect the results of pregnancy tests.
- Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.
