What is Kabiven ?

Kabiven is an intravenous emulsion used for parenteral nutrition in adult patients when oral or enteral nutrition is impossible, insufficient, or contraindicated. This sterile, hypertonic emulsion provides a balanced mixture of amino acids, glucose, lipids, and essential electrolytes. It is specifically formulated to meet the daily nutritional requirements of patients, delivering macro and micronutrients directly into the bloodstream.

• Yellow skin or eyes.
• Rapid weight gain.
• Swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet.
• Pale, hot, dry skin with fruit-like breath odor, fainting, and shortness of breath.
• Numbness or tingling in your hands, feet, or lips.
• Confusion and weakness with uneven heartbeat and shortness of breath.
• Confusion and weakness with muscle twitching.

• Yellow skin or eyes.
• Swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet.
• Make sure your doctor knows if you are pregnant or breast feeding. Your nutritional needs may be higher than normal.
• Tell your doctor if you have diabetes, blood clotting problems, or high cholesterol. Also tell your doctor if you have ever had an allergic reaction to vitamins, eggs, oils, or peanuts.
• Make sure your doctor knows if you have medical problems with your pancreas, liver, or kidney, or if you have heart disease.
• Do not stop using this medicine suddenly. Your doctor will need to slowly decrease your dose before you stop it completely.
• Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.
