What is Tymlos?
Tymlos (abaloparatide) is a prescription medication used to treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women at high risk for fracture. It is a synthetic peptide analog of human parathyroid hormone-related protein, which works by increasing bone mineral density and bone strength, thereby reducing the risk of spinal and other fractures. Tymlos is administered through once-daily subcutaneous injections.Side Effects
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Nausea, vomiting
- Red or dark brown urine, painful urination
Warnings
- This medicine may make you dizzy or drowsy. Do not drive or do anything that could be dangerous until you know how this medicine affects you. Stand or sit up slowly if you feel lightheaded or dizzy.
- Injection routeThrow away used needles in a hard, closed container that the needles cannot poke through. Keep this container away from children and pets.
- This medicine may increase your risk of having a bone cancer.
- Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Never share your medicine with anyone.
- Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.

- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have kidney disease, parathyroid disease, other bone disease (including Paget's disease of the bone), or a history of bone cancer. Tell your doctor if you had a bone radiation treatment.
