¿Qué es Infliximab?
Infliximab es un medicamento biológico de anticuerpos monoclonales que se dirige y inhibe el factor de necrosis tumoral alfa (TNF-alfa), una citocina proinflamatoria involucrada en los procesos inflamatorios autoinmunitarios. Se utiliza comúnmente en el tratamiento de afecciones autoinmunitarias como la artritis reumatoide, la enfermedad de Crohn, la colitis ulcerosa, la espondilitis anquilosante y la psoriasis. Al bloquear la acción del TNF-alfa, infliximab reduce la inflamación y ayuda a aliviar los síntomas asociados con estas afecciones crónicas.Side Effects
- Warm, red, swollen, or painful skin, blisters, skin sores
- Seizures, numbness or tingling of the skin, problems with vision, speech, or walking
- Dark urine or pale stools, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, stomach pain, yellow skin or eyes
Warnings
- Unusual bleeding, bruising, tiredness, or weakness
- Warm, red, swollen, or painful skin, blisters, skin sores
- This medicine may cause the following problems:Increased risk for infections, which may be life-threateningIncreased risk of certain cancers (including lymphoma, skin cancer, cervical cancer)Liver problemsInfusion reaction (including heart attack, stroke, changes in blood pressure, or heart rhythm problems)New or worsening heart failureLupus-like syndrome
- You will need to have a skin test for tuberculosis (TB) before you start receiving this medicine. Tell your doctor if you or anyone in your home has ever had a positive TB skin test or been exposed to TB.
- This medicine may make you bleed, bruise, or get infections more easily. Take precautions to prevent illness and injury. Wash your hands often.
