¿Qué es Nexplanon?
Nexplanon es un pequeño implante flexible para el brazo utilizado para el control de la natalidad a largo plazo, efectivo hasta por tres años. Libera una dosis constante del progestágeno etonogestrel en el torrente sanguíneo para prevenir la ovulación y espesar el moco cervical, lo que inhibe la penetración de los espermatozoides. Este implante es más del 99% efectivo y puede ser retirado en cualquier momento si la mujer decide interrumpir su uso o desea quedar embarazada.Side Effects
- Severe or ongoing pain, tingling, bleeding, bruising, redness, itching, or swelling where the implant is placed
- Chest pain, trouble breathing, coughing up blood
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
Warnings
- Tell any doctor or dentist who treats you that you are using this medicine. This medicine may affect certain medical test results.
- Call your doctor if you feel that the implant may have broken or bent while it is in your arm.
- You might need to have the implant removed if you will be inactive for a period of time (after major surgery) because of the risk of blood clots.
- This medicine will not protect you from HIV/AIDS or other sexually transmitted diseases.
- This medicine may change your usual menstrual cycle. You might have irregular bleeding, or your periods may be lighter, shorter, heavier, or longer. You might not have a period in some cycles. Call your doctor if you think you are pregnant or if you have severe pain or changes that worry you.
