Ro Weight Loss Review: Ro Body Program and GLP-1 Options

Ro is a legitimate, long-running telehealth company, and its Body Program is one of the few online GLP-1 programs built around checking your insurance first. As of October 2026, its main weight-loss page lists only FDA-approved medications from Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly, with a separate membership fee on top of the medication. The main thing members complain about is not the care; it is understanding what they will be charged and when.

• Ro (legal name Roman Health Ventures, Inc.) is based in New York and has offered telehealth since 2017. Zachariah Reitano is its CEO and co-founder.
• Ro launched its weight-loss "Body Program" in January 2023. The current version is called the Ro Body membership.
• In October 2026, Ro's weight-loss page listed the Wegovy pill and pen, the Zepbound pen and KwikPen, the Foundayo pill and Ozempic. Some are cash-pay only and some can be billed to insurance.
• Ro runs an insurance concierge that checks your coverage and handles prior authorization paperwork. If you are not covered, your provider suggests a cash-pay option.
• A Body membership is billed separately from medication. Ro offers a monthly plan and a prepaid annual plan.

Disclosure: Rx.com runs its own GLP-1 weight-loss program, so Ro is a competitor. This review is based on Ro's own website and press releases, public records and published customer reviews, all linked below.

What Ro Is

Ro is a direct-to-patient healthcare company that treats weight, sexual health, hair loss, skin, fertility and other conditions online. Its BBB profile lists the legal name Roman Health Ventures, Inc., an address on Sixth Avenue in New York, and a business start date in April 2017. The company's CEO and co-founder is Zachariah Reitano. Ro describes itself as combining telehealth, pharmacy, at-home testing and lab services on one platform, and it has raised money from private investors in several funding rounds announced on its press page.

Weight loss has become Ro's most visible business. The company has signed celebrity ambassadors for its GLP-1 program, including Charles Barkley (announced April 2025) and Serena Williams (announced August 2025), and it ran its first Super Bowl commercial in early 2026 as part of a campaign called "Healthier on Ro." Ro's site states that members were paid for their testimonials.

If you are searching "ro body program," that is the same thing as Ro's weight-loss program. Ro launched it in January 2023 as the "Body Program" and now sells it as the Ro Body membership.

The Ro Body Program, Step by Step

Ro lays out five steps on its weight-loss page. Here they are as described in October 2026:

1. Online visit. You answer questions about your health and goals online, with no office visit. Ro says you will find out whether you are eligible within two days.
2. Prescription, if appropriate. A Ro-affiliated provider reviews your information and prescribes a GLP-1 if you are eligible.
3. Insurance check. Ro checks whether your insurance covers a GLP-1. If prior authorization is needed, Ro's insurance concierge submits the paperwork for you. Ro says this takes about one to two weeks. If you are not covered, your provider suggests an FDA-approved cash-pay option.
4. Start treatment. If you pay cash, medication ships to your door and Ro says you can take your first dose in less than a week. If you use insurance, you pick it up at your pharmacy.
5. Ongoing support. Regular check-ins, provider messaging and access to the care team around the clock.

According to Ro, the Body membership includes access to GLP-1 medications if prescribed, a dedicated insurance concierge, unlimited provider messaging, side effect management and dose-titration support, weight tracking and dose logging, and one-on-one health coaching. Ro states that it has helped a patient in nearly every county in the country, and its press releases describe the platform as available nationwide.

What Ro Prescribes for Weight Loss

When we checked Ro's weight-loss page in October 2026, it listed six brand-name GLP-1 options. Ro marks each one by how you can pay for it:

Ro notes that Ozempic is FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes and may be prescribed off-label for weight loss at a provider's discretion. Ro's FAQ also mentions Zepbound single-dose vials as a cash-pay option that is typically sent within one to four days of being filled.

Ro's brand-name access comes through direct arrangements with both manufacturers. In December 2024 Ro announced it would dispense Zepbound vials through Lilly's self-pay pharmacy channel, and in April 2025 it integrated with Novo Nordisk's NovoCare Pharmacy for Wegovy. In 2026 Ro announced the Wegovy pill (January 5), prepaid Wegovy plans (March 31), the Zepbound KwikPen (April 2) and Foundayo (April 9). On September 30, 2026, Ro and Novo Nordisk announced a research collaboration on real-world use of the Wegovy pill.

A second Ro landing page

Ro's main weight-loss page and its FAQ describe FDA-approved medications only. However, a separate Ro landing page that was live when we checked in October 2026 advertises a compounded semaglutide option through the Body membership. That page says Ro works with state-licensed compounding pharmacies, that each batch is checked by an accredited third-party lab, that patients can request a Certificate of Analysis for their own medication, and that the compounded product is not covered by insurance. Ro's own disclaimer on that page says compounded drugs are not FDA-approved and do not undergo FDA safety, efficacy or quality review.

We could not find a Ro press release or public statement explaining how widely that compounded option (which is not FDA-approved) is offered, so if it matters to you, ask Ro directly which product you would receive and from which pharmacy.

How Ro Handles Insurance

Insurance support is the feature that most sets Ro apart from many cash-only telehealth programs. Ro launched a free GLP-1 Insurance Coverage Checker in August 2024 and says it has helped more than two million people understand their benefits. In the Body Program, Ro's insurance concierge checks your plan, handles prior authorization if your plan requires it, and, if you are covered, sends the prescription to your pharmacy for pickup.

A few practical points:

• Insurance covers the medication, not the membership. Ro's FAQ says the cost of GLP-1 medication is not included in the membership and depends on your treatment and coverage.
• Not every product is insurance-eligible. Ro lists the Wegovy pill, Zepbound KwikPen and Foundayo as cash-pay only.
• Denials still happen. Ro says that if coverage is denied it will help you understand your options, including paying cash.
• Timing differs. Ro estimates under a week to your first dose if paying cash and one to two weeks if using insurance.

Is Ro Legit?

Ro is a legitimate telehealth company with a long track record, licensed affiliated providers and direct arrangements with both major GLP-1 manufacturers. Here is what the public record shows as of October 2026:

• Manufacturer relationships. Ro has announced direct integrations with Eli Lilly (December 2024) and Novo Nordisk (April 2025), and it launched several new brand-name products on or near their release dates in 2026. Novo Nordisk is also a research partner.
• Published research. In December 2025 Ro announced a study of 655 of its patients on brand-name semaglutide, published in the journal Obesity, which it said showed results consistent with clinical trials. That is the company's own data on patients who stayed on treatment, so it is useful context rather than a promise of individual results.
• Regulatory record. Our search of the FDA's posted warning letters did not turn up one addressed to Ro. That reflects our search as of October 2026, not a guarantee.
• BBB. Ro is BBB-accredited and has been since July 2018. Its BBB profile shows a substantial number of complaints over the past three years, and the recent reviews there center on the first-month offer and membership charges.

What Ro GLP-1 Reviews Say

We read recent reviews on Trustpilot and the BBB in October 2026. Reviews are self-selected, and Trustpilot notes that Ro invites customers to review. Ro's Trustpilot profile also covers its other treatments, so we focused on weight-loss comments.

What people like

• Easy sign-up. Many reviewers describe the website and enrollment as straightforward and well organized.
• Fast approvals and shipping. Several say a provider reviewed their information and prescribed within a day, and that medication arrived sooner than expected and well packaged.
• Clear explanations. Some reviewers say a provider explained the medication thoroughly, including on a video call, which put them at ease.
• Insurance help. Ro's own testimonials highlight members who did not have to fight their insurer alone.

What people complain about

• The first-month offer. The most frequent complaint is confusion between the introductory first-month membership and the separate or regular charges that follow approval.
• Total cost. Trustpilot's AI summary of recent reviews flags unexpected costs as the main negative theme.
• Slow messaging. Some describe chat replies taking a day or two, and difficulty reaching a person by phone.
• Approval felt quick. A few reviewers say they were approved quickly without much conversation, which made them uneasy.
• Mixed results. Some report steady progress; others report little or no change on their first doses.

What Affects the Cost of Ro Weight Loss

We do not list prices here; Ro publishes current pricing on ro.co, and it changes. These are the things that decide what you will pay:

• Membership plus medication. The Body membership and the medication are separate. Ro shows an introductory first month, then a regular monthly rate, with a lower effective monthly rate if you prepay for a year.
• Which medication and dose. Brand-name cash prices differ by product and dose. For the Zepbound KwikPen, Ro says pricing for higher doses depends on completing refills within 45 days of the previous delivery.
• Prepaid medication plans. In March 2026 Ro introduced prepaid three-, six- and twelve-month Wegovy plans for cash-paying patients.
• Insurance. If your plan covers the medication, your cost depends on your copay or coinsurance. The membership is still a separate charge.

When you compare programs, add the membership and the medication together at the dose you expect to reach, and check whether prepaying commits you to a longer term.
