What is Activase ?
Activase (alteplase) is a thrombolytic agent used primarily to dissolve blood clots quickly and restore blood flow in acute myocardial infarction, acute ischemic stroke, and pulmonary embolism. It functions as a recombinant tissue plasminogen activator, facilitating the conversion of plasminogen to plasmin, which breaks down clots effectively. Treatment with Activase is time-sensitive and typically involves a high level of monitoring for potential bleeding complications.
