What is Atropine Sulfate ?
Atropine sulfate is an anticholinergic agent derived from the belladonna plant that acts by blocking the action of acetylcholine in the central and the peripheral nervous system. It is commonly used to dilate pupils, treat bradycardia (slow heart rate), and as an antidote for organophosphate poisoning. Atropine sulfate also decreases secretions in the respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts and relaxes smooth muscles, making it useful in various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
