What is Betoptic-S ?

Betoptic-S (betaxolol hydrochloride ophthalmic suspension) is an ophthalmic medication formulated as a 0.25% sterile suspension for topical application to the eyes. It belongs to the class of drugs known as beta-adrenergic receptor inhibitors, commonly referred to as beta-blockers, and is primarily indicated for the treatment of elevated intraocular pressure in patients with chronic open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension to help prevent further optic nerve damage and loss of vision.

  • Ophthalmic routeIf you hurt your eye, develop an eye infection, or need to have eye surgery, talk with your doctor right away. You may need to change your medicine or stop using it.
  • Tell any doctor or dentist who treats you that you are using this medicine. You may need to stop using this medicine several days before you have surgery or medical tests.
  • Your doctor will check your progress and the effects of this medicine at regular visits. Keep all appointments.
