Calcium Acetate works to lower high levels of phosphate in the body. High levels of phosphate in the blood can lead to low bone density (making them weak), they can attract unsafe minerals in the body, and may also increase your risk of heart disease and stroke. Calcium Acetate is a mineral that works by sticking on to the phosphate in your bloodstream and have it passed out through the body by urine. This medication should not be taken if calcium level in the body is high.
