What is Cinacalcet Hcl ?
Cinacalcet HCl is a calcimimetic agent that directly lowers parathyroid hormone levels by increasing the sensitivity of the calcium-sensing receptors on the parathyroid gland. It is primarily used to treat secondary hyperparathyroidism in patients with chronic kidney disease on dialysis and hypercalcemia in patients with parathyroid carcinoma or primary hyperparathyroidism. This medication is administered orally and is generally well-tolerated, but monitoring of serum calcium levels is essential to avoid hypocalcemia.
