Lexapro is a medication used to treat depression and anxiety disorders. Lexapro belongs to a class of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Lexapro is a brand version of the drug escitalopram oxalate. This drug was approved by the FDA for depression in 2002 and for anxiety in 2003. In the treatment of mental health disorders, Lexapro use is common.

- Do not stop using this medicine suddenly. Your doctor will need to slowly decrease your dose before you stop it completely.
- Your doctor may want to monitor your child's weight and height, because this medicine may cause decreased appetite and weight loss in children.
- Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.
- Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Never share your medicine with anyone.
