MoviPrep is a medication used to clean out your intestines prior to having a test done (such as a colonoscopy or barium enema). This drug increases stool volume and water content. MoviPrep is a laxative. MoviPrep is a brand version of the drug polyethylene glycol with electrolytes. This medication has been available for years. In the preparation of the bowels for medical studies, MoviPrep use is common.

  • Bloating or feeling of fullness
  • Burning, pain, or itching around your anus
  • Tiredness
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
  • Change in how much or how often you urinate, cloudy urine
  • Chest pain, fast, pounding, or uneven heartbeat
  • Severe stomach pain or bloating, bleeding from the rectum, bloody or black stools
  • Confusion, weakness, muscle twitching
