What is Oxacillin Sodium?
Oxacillin Sodium is a narrow-spectrum beta-lactam antibiotic of the penicillin class, primarily used to treat infections caused by penicillinase-producing staphylococci. It is administered intravenously or intramuscularly and is effective against infections resistant to benzylpenicillin. The antibiotic operates by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death.Side Effects

- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Bloody urine.
Warnings
- Make sure your doctor knows if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Make sure your doctor knows if you have liver disease, kidney disease, asthma, or any allergies.
- Use this medicine to treat only the infection your doctor has prescribed it for. Do not use this medicine for any infection that has not been checked by your doctor.
- This medicine can cause diarrhea. Call your doctor if the diarrhea becomes severe, does not stop, or is bloody. Do not take any medicine to stop diarrhea until you have talked to your doctor. Diarrhea can occur 2 months or more after you stop taking this medicine.
- Your doctor will check your progress and the effects of this medicine at regular visits. Keep all appointments.
