What is Ticagrelor?
Ticagrelor is an oral antiplatelet medication primarily used to reduce the risk of thrombotic cardiovascular events in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) or a history of myocardial infarction. It functions by reversibly inhibiting the P2Y12 receptor on platelets, thereby preventing platelet activation and aggregation. Unlike other antiplatelet drugs, Ticagrelor does not require metabolic activation, which contributes to a more rapid onset of action.Side Effects
