What is Infed?
Infed (iron dextran) is a parenteral iron therapy used to treat patients with documented iron deficiency in which oral iron administration is ineffective, poorly tolerated, or impractical. It is commonly used to correct anemia in patients with chronic kidney disease or those undergoing chemotherapy. Infed works by replenishing body iron stores via intravenous injection, allowing for the effective synthesis of hemoglobin and red blood cells.Side Effects

- Joint or muscle pain
Warnings
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have liver disease, heart disease, a kidney infection, rheumatoid arthritis, allergies, or asthma.
- Tell any doctor or dentist who treats you that you are using this medicine. This medicine may affect certain medical test results.
- This medicine could raise your iron levels too high. Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.
