Warnings
- You may need to stop using this medicine for a few weeks before and after you have surgery because of the risk of blood clots.
- This medicine may make your periods lighter or shorter, and you might not have a period in some cycles. However, tell your doctor if you miss 2 periods in a row, or if you miss 1 period and did not take the pills on schedule during the month. You might be pregnant.

Natazia is a prescription oral contraceptive that combines estradiol valerate and dienogest to help prevent pregnancy. Unlike many traditional birth control pills that contain ethinyl estradiol, Natazia uses estradiol valerate, a form of estrogen that is converted into estradiol, the primary estrogen naturally produced by the body. In addition to preventing pregnancy, Natazia is FDA-approved to treat heavy menstrual bleeding in women who choose oral contraception for birth control.
Natazia works by preventing ovulation, thickening cervical mucus to make it more difficult for sperm to reach an egg, and changing the uterine lining to reduce the likelihood of implantation. Its unique four-phase dosing regimen is designed to more closely mimic natural hormonal fluctuations while providing effective pregnancy prevention when taken consistently and correctly.
The medication is taken once daily at the same time each day.
