What is Sevelamer Hcl ?

Sevelamer hydrochloride is a phosphate-binding medication used primarily to treat hyperphosphatemia in patients with chronic kidney disease on dialysis. It works by binding to dietary phosphate in the gut, thus preventing its absorption into the bloodstream. This helps manage serum phosphate levels within a target range, reducing the risk of heart and bone disorders associated with elevated phosphate levels in patients with renal impairment.
