¿Qué es Eplerenone?
Eplerenona es un antagonista selectivo del receptor de aldosterona que se utiliza principalmente en el manejo de la insuficiencia cardíaca y la hipertensión. Al bloquear las acciones de la hormona aldosterona en los riñones, ayuda a reducir la presión arterial y previene la retención de líquidos. La eplerenona es particularmente beneficiosa para pacientes después de un infarto de miocardio y aquellos con insuficiencia cardíaca para mejorar la supervivencia y reducir la hospitalización.Side Effects
- Confusion, weakness, uneven heartbeat, trouble breathing, numbness or tingling in your hands, feet, or lips
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
Warnings
- Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.
- Do not stop using this medicine without asking your doctor, even if you feel well. This medicine will not cure high blood pressure, but it will help keep it in normal range. You may have to take blood pressure medicine for the rest of your life.
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have kidney disease, liver disease, or diabetes.
- This medicine may cause hyperkalemia (high potassium levels in your blood).
- Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Never share your medicine with anyone.
