¿Qué es Triamterene?
Triamterene es un diurético ahorrador de potasio que pertenece a la clase de medicamentos conocidos como benzotiadiazidas. Funciona al inhibir la reabsorción de sodio en los riñones mientras conserva el potasio, evitando así la depleción de potasio que a menudo es causada por otros diuréticos. Este mecanismo hace que Triamterene sea útil en el tratamiento de edemas e hipertensión, frecuentemente en combinación con otros diuréticos o agentes antihipertensivos.Side Effects
- Confusion, weakness, irregular heartbeat, shortness of breath, numbness or tingling in hands, feet, or lips
- Dry mouth, increased thirst, muscle cramps, nausea or vomiting
- Fever, chills, cough, hoarseness
Warnings
- Make sure your doctor knows if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have diabetes, lupus, gout, pancreatitis, or kidney stones.
- This medicine may make you dizzy. Avoid driving, using machines, or doing anything else that could be dangerous if you are not alert.
- This medicine may make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Use a sunscreen when you are outdoors. Avoid sunlamps and tanning beds.
- Make sure any doctor or dentist who treats you knows that you are using this medicine.
